No surf is required for stand up paddling! This exciting, versatile activity is perfectly suited to any body of water: lakes, rivers, and the ocean. It got its start in 1960s Hawaii with the beach boys of Waikiki. Using outrigger paddles, they'd paddle their long surfboards out to take pictures of tourists learning to surf. In recent years, SUP has made a huge comeback and is now the fastest-growing watersport in the world. "Walk on Water" with us! Relish the great outdoors on a peaceful flatwater lake as you discover the joy of stand up paddleboarding - one of the fastest-growing watersports in the world! In our professionally led, small-group lessons designed for beginners, you'll learn the fundamentals of the sport while paddling with an instructor in the scenic surroundings of Lake Wheeler in Raleigh!
In the 90-minute introductory class, our instructors will teach you:
- How to get on and off your board
- Paddling techniques
- Proper stance on the board for stability
- Essential turning methods
- and more!
INCLUDED: Professional instruction in a small-group setting, plus all equipment (premium stand up paddleboard, height-adjustable paddle, leash, PFD, and a bottle of water).
